It was duly registered as Load Shedding Solution (Pty) Ltd under South African Registration No. 2023/837227/07.

Building on this foundation, the company rapidly expanded its technological capabilities, introducing two additional products that deliver transformative value to the insurance and solar energy sectors.

Recognizing the need for a name that better reflects its diversified innovation portfolio and long-term growth vision, the company rebranded and now proudly trades as PowerPulse Innovations — a name synonymous with smart energy management, sustainability, and future-ready solutions.

PowerPulse Innovations was born out of decades of technical insight and firsthand experience with South Africa’s power utility ecosystem.

In the 1970s, Hawker Siddeley Electric, a key supplier to Eskom, faced contract risk over delayed tap changer deliveries. A young engineering graduate, Kevin Pearman, stepped up to the challenge. Under his leadership, South Africa saw the first locally manufactured on-load tap changers, marking a turning point in Eskom’s supply chain localization.

In 2015, during a resurgence of load shedding, Kevin conceptualized and engineered a practical, scalable solution. Within just two months, he successfully demonstrated a working prototype of GridGuard to Eskom, proving the viability of an entirely new approach to grid stabilization.

Kevin Pearman is a visionary South African inventor, engineer, and entrepreneur with over five decades of experience across engineering, aviation, logistics, and clean technology innovation. His career began in the early 1970s with Hawker Siddeley Electric, a key supplier to Eskom, where—at just 24—he led the successful local development of South Africa’s first on-load tap changers, safeguarding national grid stability and reshaping Eskom’s supply chain.

A qualified commercial pilot with over 5,500 flying hours, Kevin later built a portfolio of ventures spanning aviation training, road freight logistics across southern Africa, and a range of patented consumer and industrial products. These include the SABS-certified Fact Fuel Master and the globally patented (11 Countries) Heavy Duty Truck Tyre monitoring system, earning him multiple innovation awards from the SABS Design Institute, T Systems and Deloitte & Touche.

In 2015, amidst worsening load shedding, Kevin conceptualized GridGuard—an intelligent, scalable energy management system capable of national load balancing without blackouts. Within two months, he demonstrated a working prototype to Eskom. From this innovation, PowerPulse Innovations was born, developing a suite of patented technologies: GridGuard, GeyserGuard, and SolarBoost.

Today, Kevin leads PowerPulse with a relentless drive to deliver cost-effective, practical solutions to South Africa’s most pressing energy and infrastructure challenges—protecting geysers, stabilizing the grid, and enabling sustainable energy adoption.
